COSMOS Summer Program for Mathmatics & Science
COSMOS is a four-week residential program for talented and motivated students completing grades eight through twelve. Students work side-by-side with outstanding university researchers and faculty exploring advanced topics that extend beyond the typical high school curriculum. COSMOS courses are hands-on and lab intensive emphasizing current research underway at the University of California.
APPLICATION
Each campus can only accommodate approximately 160 participants so selection is competitive. A typical COSMOS student has a GPA of 3.5 or above. Students must have achieved academic excellence. Preference will be given to 9-11 graders. The application will be available online February 1st. The following factors are taken into consideration:

- Grades, especially in Math and Science courses
- Math/Science teacher recommendations
- Participation in math/science activities
- Responses to short-response questions
Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project (CLYLP) Summer Conference
Students have a unique opportunity to visit the state Capitol to learn firsthand about the legislative process through mock hearings and even have personal interaction with state legislators and legislative staff. Students are also presented with valuable information about college and professional careers. A college fair is also held with top colleges from around the country.
All California high school students currently in the 10th and 11th grade are invited to apply. The Conference will be held:

The Smithsonian Latino Center's Young Ambassadors Program fosters the next generation of young Latino leaders in the fields of arts and culture.
--> The Smithsonian Latino Center’s Young Ambassadors Program is a national, interdisciplinary leadership program for high school students gifted in the arts, sciences, or humanities. The mission of the program is to foster the next generation of Latino leaders in the arts, sciences, and humanities via the Smithsonian Institution and its resources.
Up to 24 graduating high school seniors with an interest and commitment to disciplines in the arts, sciences, or humanities as it pertains to Latino communities and cultures will be selected. The students will travel to Washington, D.C. for a week-long all expensed paid training and leadership seminar at the Smithsonian Institution. The training seminar encourages youth to explore and understand Latino identity and embrace their own cultural heritage. Following the training seminar, students participate in a four-week interdisciplinary education internship in museums and other cultural institutions in their local communities, including Smithsonian-affiliated organizations. A program stipend will be given at the completion of the 5-week program. Through the program, we empower Latino youth to develop leadership and academic skills. During the past twenty-five years the Inland Empire Future Leaders Program (IEFLP) has provided summer leadership development programs for more than 3,000 Latino eighth- and ninth-grade students from throughout the Inland Empire. The week-long sessions include training in the leadership process, parliamentary procedure, cultural awareness, college preparation, career choices, citizenship responsibilities, and public speaking. The sessions are dynamic, intensive and fun-filled, but more important, we constantly encourage students to strive for academic excellence and to contribute to their schools and community through personal involvement.
The leadership conference takes place in August. You must be in 8th or 9th grade, have a 2.8 GPA, an autobiographical statement, a description of school and community activities, and two letters of recommendation from school and community leaders.

Grammy in the Schools Summer Camp Program
GRAMMY Camp is a residential summer camp for high school students with a focus on the music industry. Hosted in Los Angeles by the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and taught by top music professionals from multiple disciplines, GRAMMY Camp provides an exciting experience in various music industry careers including: Audio Engineering; Electronic Music Production; Music Journalism; Concert Promotion & Production; Singer/Songwriter and Instrumental Performance.

UCR Alpha Center Summer Project
The summer programs offered to middle and high school students by the ALPHA Center are designed to improve learning abilities and achievement in various fields, but the programs also offer the added benefit of keeping a student’s mind in sharp focus during a long break from school. Our programs will nurture your children’s learning growth and allow them to see learning as both fun and beneficial to their futures, all the while keeping their minds sharp for the upcoming school year.

The week-long Healthy Body - Healthy Mind summer program focuses on the development of a well-rounded individual, with physical fitness activities coupling with instruction in mathematics as it relates to health and physical education.
Girls Excelling in Mathematics with Success (GEMS)
Project GEMS is a learning academy for middle and high school girls focusing on mathematics as it relates to college, the sciences, and technology. The program is designed to focus these girls as to how relevant mathematics is in today’s world.

Ontario GEMS² is an academy of learning for middle school girls in mathematics and science especially as it relates to college and career choice. The purpose of GEMS² is to empower girls with knowledge about the power of mathematics, science, community service, and mentoring and supporting on another.
Project COMPASS
Project COMPASS is designed to expose students to the integration of mathematics and technology, and how to combine both fields in to a deeper understanding of critical thinking.
